We had a great weekend at the beach except that it was freezing cold! We actually drove through snow to get to Nags Head but it wasn't much...just a few flurries. We got to Nags Head about 3:00 and stopped by our hotel to check it out. We also stopped by some of the outlets to see what they had but didn't buy anything. Then we set out to Kitty Hawk and went to the Wright Brothers' Memorial. It was neat to see the glider and check the memorial. We were there during sunset and it was pretty amazing. We went to dinner at RV's Sugar Creek Restaurant and we both had fresh shrimp. It was early to bed for me...I think I went to sleep about 7:30 and slept until morning!
On Saturday morning we decided to drive out to the Bodie Lighthouse. It was pretty cool to see. I think I have been to some of the NC lighthouses but not for a long time and certainly not anytime that I can remember. Jason set up the camera to take a picture of ourselves...haha! He had to balance it on his wallet and phone to get the right angle. We took a quick picture and got back into the warm car! Then we decided to drive to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. We didn't really have much more to do on Saturday and the lighthouse was about an hour south. The drive was pretty neat because there are a lot of places on the NC outerbanks that have no development. We stopped at a few beaches and I think maybe for the first time in my life I saw beach with no houses, hotels, or piers. It was beautiful. We drove through Rodanthe which is known for the movie that just came out "Nights in Rodanthe" but we didn't stop. We may check out the movie sometime soon. The lighthouse at Cape Hatteras was really pretty. We went to the site where they moved it from and then walked around the actual lighthouse. Then we drove back to Kitty Hawk and went to lunch at the Outerbanks Brewing Station. The restaurant was pretty neat and we sat next to the brewing equipment and Jason tried out their beer. Then we went back to the hotel and I took a nap. When I woke up we went to dinner at the Red Drum Taphouse. We had calamari and then Jason had their flounder and I had really good pork chops. Then guess what? Back to the hotel to bed!! Can you see a theme here...sleep is really good!
Sunday morning we woke up and had breakfast at the hotel and then walked out on the beach. It was actually a much nicer day because the winds weren't so bad.
Overall we had a great trip. Mostly relaxed and hung out in the room. The hotel was neat. It had a lot of history and was very pretty. They had pretty good breakfasts in the morning and then a wine and dessert hour in the afternoon. Unfortunately Sunday afternoon was back to Raleigh...and back to reality.

30 Weeks!
Yesterday marks 30 weeks! We are 3/4 of the way there and she is getting big. This week we had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday with one of the nurse practitioners. Our appointment was for 8:00 and we were out in a record 9 minutes. Needless to say everything looked/sounded great and we'll go back in another 2 weeks.
Our 3rd anniversary was Wednesday. I really can't believe it has been 3 years already. I'm so lucky to have such an amazing husband and I know he will be an awesome dad. To celebrate we went to dinner at Angus Barn (yum!) and we are going to the beach this weekend. We're super excited. We're staying at the First Colony Inn at Nags Head and can't wait for a relaxing weekend away.

The Baby's Room
Everyone has been asking for baby room pictures. So here you go:
The baby's room is khaki color and we decided to keep it that way because it is pretty neutral and basic. We're using the Zanzibar bedding from Babies r us which I love. The giraffe is my favorite because it is totally cute. The crib is down at the moment because cousin Vera is testing out our crib when she comes to visit and she is mobile! The bumper is in the crib for my enjoyment. Don't worry...I know we aren't supposed to use it!
Check out all the great toys and books...all from yard sales. We have gotten some great things! We bought the glider from a lady on Craigslist for $30
We're keeping the futon in the room at the moment. Right now it is our only place for guests to sleep and we figure it will be nice for "family time" (reading together, etc. :) We got the very cool stringless blinds buy one get one free from JCPenney.
The changing table and hutch and dresser are super nice, very sturdy furniture. We got them with the crib from a family on Craigslist. We did heed the warnings from some about buying a used crib. But we checked the recalls and the crib came with the original manual. We've checked it thoroughly to make sure all the parts are there and will check again before she is born. We got a great deal on the set...I think a total of $425 and it is in perfect condition, Italian furniture. I haven't decided on the TV yet. For sure it won't be in her room when she is a little older but I've had a few mom's tell me it may be nice for the early sleepless nights.
So it really is almost there. I want to get the carpets cleaned in the next few weeks and we are working on a few details. I have had so much fun finding deals on everything to put this room together. We have so many pieces of the Zanzibar set (lamp, curtains, valences, diaper stackers, etc) but we didn't buy anything new. I have bought all of it from craigslist or the consignment shop. We actually have a few extra valences which I'm going to make into wall hangings or maybe use to make basket liners, etc.

Triple Coupon Sunday!
I woke up early this morning with Milo (he is preparing me for the baby I think) and saw a special about these crazy couponers in Raleigh. There is a lady who teaches a class on saving money using coupons and all kinds of blogs for local saving. So the news was talking about how today was the last day to take advantage of triple coupons at Harris Teeter. I clip coupons once in awhile...sometimes I get around to using them. So I decided to try it. We stopped by Brueggers to get a Sunday paper and a bagel and I clipped a few more coupons and headed out to the store.
Little did I know there are all these rules...they only triple up to 99 cents, you can only use 20 coupons, some coupons can't be doubled or tripled, etc. Jason was a little worried that I would get excessively "into this" and spend way too much effort in my sorting, etc. He did have to come to the grocery store to purchase his 20 items so that we could use 40 coupons.
The end result:
Our total spent:
$90.67 (keep in mind we got 2 bags of dog food which cost $15.29)
Total savings: 157.24
Yay! I don't think I did an excellent job. Apparently all kind of planning is required for this...I'm thinking about taking the class but I realize this is possibly extremely nerdy but sad enough it was kind of fun.

3D Ultrasound!
We just finished our 3D ultrasound. We did confirm that it is a girl and she was rather determined to keep her hand in front of her face. After much coaxing the technician did get her to move her hand so we got some good shots. She is a cutie! She has little chubby cheeks and we saw her grab her toes, stick out her tongue, and wrap her feet around her head. I'll try to figure out how to get the video posted a little later. Happy Election Day!
Jason and I voted first thing this morning. We were very surprised to find no lines at all. I'm a little sad that I never got this t-shirt. How cool is that? We have been joking that we'd prefer the baby to be born after the inauguration so that she never has to claim Bush as her president.
We had a doctor's appointment today. We saw the newest doctor at our practice. She actually is the only female OB there and has just recently finished her residency. We liked her. I think she'd be a very calm and supportive person to deliver with. The baby was wiggling a little excessively so the doctor actually had to work really hard to get the heartbeat measurement (which was her usual 150 bpm). The doctor laughed at her activeness. It has been pretty neat over the past couple of days because she is really kicking hard. This weekend we were watching TV and all the sudden my belly jumped. Jason and I both were a little shocked. Now I am very distracted by watching my own belly move. haha! Other than that the doctor gave me a few suggestions on ways to be a little more comfortable and gave me the lovely bottle of nasty sugar water...I will have another gestational diabetes test tomorrow morning along with all the other routine 28 week bloodwork.
We just scheduled our 3D ultrasound!!! It will be this Saturday at 11! I'll post pictures as soon as we are back home.
Well... I think I better go take a nap because I know I'll stay up watching election news. We're keeping our fingers crossed.
